OUR HISTORY
THE BEGINNING
Ed Walker had a vision. It was, simply, to build the best fine art bronze casting foundry on the East Coast. It started in his first sculpture class at East Carolina University when his professor challenged each student to design their dream studio. Though it took him twenty three years, the foundry he built in 1995 in Seagrove, NC closely modeled that initial design.
OUR COMMITMENT TO THE ENVIRONMENT
Ed's vision didn't end there. He constructed the building with a southern exposure and the proper roof line so he could install solar panels in the future. And after walking over the 55 acres where the foundry is now located, he knew that one day he would build a large pond and create a sculpture garden around its banks. Around that pond, we now have 25 sculptures and deep in its waters we have a geothermal heating and cooling system along with rooftop solar panels and battery backup system. In our foundry, we also often reuse wax and leftover bronze.
Today, Ed’s vision belongs to all of us. From our uncompromising customer service, our guarantee of the highest quality possible, our dedication to lowering our carbon footprint, our pledge to community involvement and job creation, and our vow to make our product in the USA, the staff here at Carolina Bronze Sculpture Garden and Foundry is committed to moving that vision forward because “We make history here!”.
A Sculpture Garden at the Heart of North Carolina
The Carolina Bronze Sculpture Garden's mission is to educate and inspire the community and visitors from around the country about large scale sculpture in a beautiful natural setting and to pursue sales of the sculpture featured in the park and on our website to collectors, businesses, developers and municipalities.
The Sculpture
Since 1990, our experience of working with sculptors from the region and around the country, has perfectly positioned Carolina Bronze Sculpture Garden and Foundry to help you find the finest sculpture for your indoor or outdoor setting. Our sculpture garden is filled with over 25 sculptures in all media, suitable for the outdoors. The Gardens
The Carolina Bronze Sculpture Garden is a natural and landscaped area overlooking a beautiful 1.25 acre pond. A walking trail loops around the pond with benches and a picnic area situated along the trail. With help from horticulturists from the NC Zoo, Carolina Bronze has chosen plants and trees that are native to the NC landscape and will attract birds, butterflies and other wildlife that populate the area. We are a certified native plant habitat. Our wide variety of sculptures offer a perfect balance to the natural setting.
The garden is open to the public and will provide a contemplative place for walking and exercise as well as information about native NC plants.
"I learned upon my visit to Carolina Bronze Sculpture that if you need a foundry to bring your artistic sculpture creation to fruition in bronze, this is the place. An informative and thorough tour of the facilities by Ed Walker, the owner and meeting and watching his staff of artisans was the thrill of my day. Also a walk around the lake to see the Sculpture Garden was a special treat. If you are looking for something to do or if large or small scale bronze sculpture is an interest to you, this is a must do! Thanks to Ed and all his staff for a great experience and a great day!"William D.
An Art Gallery and Fine Art Studio in Seagrove
Walker Art Studios was formerly CB East and serves as our gallery and studio space. Located on the East side of Seagrove, it provides a space for artists to display their art for sale as well as providing studio space for our owners and visiting sculptors needing a place to touch up sculptures before the pieces begin the process of being cast into bronze at our foundry.
Expanding a Vision
In 2019, we acquired our new gallery space in the Historic Luck's Cannery on the East side of Seagrove. After a lot of remodeling, we opened Carolina Bronze East in November of 2021. After closing the Red Show in March 2022, we have begun even further improvements on our gallery space.
