Simon Raab is a contemporary artist based in Santa Barbara CA and is represented by the Peter Zimmerman Gallery in Mannheim, Germany.
Simon tapped into our digital capabilities to model and CNC machine a grenade pattern, and then mold and cast the piece using alternate materials and finishes on different parts of the grenade.
At 3′ scale, four grenades carry cast bronze, cast stainless and polished stainless steel elements. Stainless steel is always a very different beast compared to the relative ease of bronze, and we were delighted with the outcome, two of the realizations were exhibited last December during Miami Art Basel @ Art Miami – photos here!
